This traditional farmstead, comprising farm house and steading range, was formerly part  of the Atholl Estate. It was granted a new lease of life when Simpson & Brown's client, Tighmor, undertook to develop the site for rural housing. The existing buildings are fine examples of the local vernacular, and have been converted into four individual homes, retaining much of the original building fabric.  Alongside the old, two new and very distinctive timber and drystane houses have been introduced to reinforce the grouping.

Simpson & Brown believes that, for both old and new, the use of local and indigenous materials not only helps to address current issues regarding  sustainability but also has practical advantages in terms of proven durability, energy efficiency and aesthetic  quality. The properties all have different characters; the farmhouse has been extended to improve its internal layout but remains essentially original, whilst the remaining houses adopt a more contemporary design approach. Two of the dwellings incorporate sheltered roof terraces that take advantage of panoramic views across the Perthshire countryside.

With all of the dwellings having been sold during the construction period, and within days of being marketed, there has been an opportunity to carry out bespoke adjustments for the individual purchasers. Further developments for Tighmor are were completed at Borelick, near Dunkeld, and at Tyninghame in East Lothian.
