Walk-over surveys

Undertaken before development begins, walk-over surveys allow the archaeological team to identify features visible on the ground within the proposed development area and can assess the impact of the development upon these features.

The team will survey a site by walking in a structured manner across a development area, noting anomalies or obvious visible features in the ground. All features of potential significance will be recorded to a high archaeological standard and their location charted with GPS.
