Johnnie Walker Princes Street

Simpson & Brown was appointed by Diageo in 2018 as project architects for Johnnie Walker Princes Street, a spectacular eight storey new brand home for the world's best-selling Scotch whisky within the former House of Fraser department store. The project involved the restoration and extension of a well-loved building in a pivotal Edinburgh location.

The complex project included the following:

* Full restoration of the exterior, including the 1960s clock, sconces, steel and bronze windows and bronze cladding
* Reinstatement of the original shop front, canopy and flagpole
* New eight storey feature stair atrium
* New roof top extension and terrace
* Three floors of highly serviced experiential spaces
* Double height event space
* Private VIP apartment
* Publicly accessible Atex-rated basement maturation experience
* Catering and prep kitchens to service the bars and event spaces
* Changing Places toilet 

The project completed in September 2021.
