Following a devastating fire in December 2017, Simpson & Brown have been involved as conservation architects in the restoration process to bring the B-listed Cameron House back into use. The world-renowned five star luxury hotel is set within the iconic Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Due to the extensive damage to the structural fabric of the building, a façade retention design was implemented following the stabilisation and clearance of what remained after the fire. The original cross walls were no longer structurally sound and were replaced with a new steel structure, allowing the principal rooms to be recreated in their original form, at the same time as improving the bedroom provision and creating better links to the surviving hotel wings.
The work to repair and restore the ashlar sandstone external walls their stone dressings and details was critical in maintaining the historical context of the property and was carried out with great skill and attention by sub-contractors, Stirling Stone.

The Interim Scottish Parliament
Simpson & Brown was commissioned by the Scottish Office to convert the Church of Scotland Assembly Hall as interim accommodation for the new Scottish Parliament. Work was completed for the state opening of Parliament by the Queen in July 1999.
