Private House in the Borders

The project involved extending and remodel an existing unlisted two storey late 18th century L-plan Georgian farmhouse set within its own walled garden in the Scottish Borders. It is part of a working farm with historic stone-built steadings and modern metal framed barns.

Externally, the new one and a half storey extension is carefully designed using materials like whinstone, sandstone dressings, slate, and lead to match existing and ensure the original farmhouse remains the dominant feature. Internally, the requirement was for a large comfortable quality family house with the ability to cater for parties of 16 people.
