We were asked to conduct a Desk-based Assessment of land at Falleninch, west of Stirling, in advance of housing development proposals. The southern boundary of the proposed development area is partially constituted by the Listed Building, King’s Park Boundary wall, which may have its origins in the 12th century. Two post-medieval farmsteads were identified through the historic mapping, Newlandgott and Longmuir, which are depicted on 18th century mapping but have disappeared by the 1860s and may remains as archaeological features on the site. The proposed development area also contains a section of the Forth & Clyde Junction railway, and the Raploch Airfield, a grassed airstrip which operated in World War I and is the place of origin of No.43 Fighter Squadron.
