Simpson & Brown and Addyman Archaeology undertake projects in the United Kingdom and overseas, often involving major historic buildings. Its work includes straightforward and well-executed repairs, scholarly restoration and complex alterations and extensions, as well as new buildings. The practice has a particular interest in careful conservation and in the conversion and creative re-use of existing buildings. It is committed to simple, wholesome new building design, in which sound ecological principles and environmental ethics are combined with a real understanding of traditional materials and construction, local techniques and practice.
Simpson & Brown provides a historic buildings consultancy with specific emphasis on Conservation and Management Planning and in assembling funding for complex projects. The practice undertakes research, expert witness work and the preparation of feasibility studies and reports of various sorts.
Addyman Archaeology has extensive expertise in archaeology, building analysis, building and landscape survey and has been involved in many prominent building and landscape conservation projects. The practice also specialises in topographic surveys and building survey techniques, including photographic rectification and three dimensional survey image modelling.
