Sue Whittle
Susan was trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee. She began her professional career in London converting listed buildings into offices. This was followed by work on the refurbishment of the state apartments and library wings of Windsor Castle.
Susan joined Simpson & Brown in 1996. She developed her interest and experience working on many historic building restoration projects including the conversion of six town houses in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh for the National Trust for Scotland, and the restoration of St Ninian's Manse and Auchinleck House. She has also designed and detailed innovative new buildings with strong sustainability credentials including the award wining Scottish Seabird Centre. Susan leads a large team working on a varied portfolio including feasibility studies on ruined country houses, community regeneration projects and bids for historic royal palaces.
Recent projects include: a new Robert Burns Museum; the restoration and extension of Blairtummock House; the consolidation of Penicuik House ruins and associated visitor and training facilities; and the new Dawyck Botanic Garden Visitor Centre.
Susan has RIAS conservation accreditation Grade A.
