Laura Bennett

Laura Bennett Laura trained at the University of Edinburgh and joined Simpson & Brown in 2003. She was appointed as an Associate in 2007.

When she first joined the practice, Laura was involved in the refurbishment of Cringletie House Hotel in Peebles-shire, which included major alterations to facilitate disabled access. The project achieved the Visit Scotland Disability Access Award 2004.

Laura was the project architect for the final stages of conservation and alteration work at Gardyne's Land in Dundee, a complex of historic buildings. The project was carried out for Dundee City Council for re-use as a youth hostel. In 2007 Gardyne's Land won the Roses Design Awards Best Re-use of a Listed Building and the DIA Award for Best Conservation.

Laura has also worked on several projects to convert redundant farm steadings into private dwellings. She has also been involved in newbuild designs for three separate houses in the Perthshire area. At present Laura is involved with the restoration of a Scottish Cemetery in Kolkata, India for the Kolkata Scottish Heritage Trust.
