Jenny Humphreys
Jenny studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, University of Dundee. During her studies, conservation and environmental studies were always important components of her project work. As a student she worked for Historic Scotland, mainly on projects at Linlithgow Palace and within Edinburgh Castle.
Jenny joined Simpson & Brown in 1996 as part of a team working on the National Trust for Scotland's new headquarters in Charlotte Square. She went on to manage the repair and restoration of a small laird's house in West Stirlingshire for the NTS Little Houses Improvement Scheme. Her first major project was as architect for the design and construction of a new Visitor Centre at Arbroath Abbey for Historic Scotland and Angus Council, a building which has won a number of design awards.
Later projects include the substantial remodelling, based upon "green" principles, of a private house in West Stirlingshire. She is currently working on the new headquarters for the Scottish Ornithologists' Club in Aberlady and a serviced office development forming part of a larger live-work network scheme.
Jenny attained RIAS Sustainable Design Accreditation Class 2* in 2004, awarded in recognition of the application of sustainable design principles, and achieved a further distinction for innovative achievement.
