Andrew Davey
Andrew was trained at the Bartlett School of Architecture from which he graduated with a first class honours degree and diploma.
After working briefly in London, he moved to Edinburgh in 1978 to work on "The Care and Conservation of Georgian Houses", a practical handbook written for the Edinburgh New Town Conservation Committee and which was recently published in its 4th edition. He subsequently worked with John Hope Architects, before joining Simpson & Brown in 1981.
Andrew has been the Architect for a wide variety of projects, ranging from the restoration of important public buildings and country houses, to the conversion of old buildings for new use and the construction of new houses for private clients. The restoration and adaptation of No. 8 Queen Street, Edinburgh, for the Royal College of Physicians won a Europa Nostra award for the firm. He was responsible for the conversion of the Church of Scotland Assembly Hall to provide interim accommodation for the Scottish Parliament, and the Partner in charge of the design and construction of the award-winning Visitor Centre at Arbroath Abbey for Historic Scotland and Angus Council. Andrew is currently involved with Poltimore House in Devon, the regional finalist featured on BBC2's "Restoration" programme.
