New Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Alloway, Ayrshire
The all timber building was designed along sound environmental lines. It incorporates a host of sustainable features including a sedum roof and labyrinth ventilation system. In parallel with the new building other works to enhance links throughout the Alloway heritage site are planned and the existing museum will be developed as education facilities. Burns Cottage itself will benefit from maintenance works and a small reception building will be constructed on the cottage holding alongside to welcome increasing visitor numbers.
